Azienda Agricola Pino Gino
Deep rooted in the region
The history of this production site, located on the hills overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio between Portofino and Sestri Levante, has ancient roots. In medieval times it was the Benedictine monks from the monastery of Bobbio who chose this area to found the abbey of Conio, above Missano (village in the municipality of Castiglione Chiavarese), and thus give new impetus to the cultivation of vines in the surrounding areas of greater vocation.
The family-run company, called Pino Gino surname and name of the founder who started the business with passion and dedication, passing on these values to his children, current owners. Now, the company and its production are well-known and highly regarded throughout the region, to the extent that it received the Gran Medaglia Cangrande (Vinitaly 2008) as a distinguished producer of Ligurian viticulture.
Excellence requires dedication
The company covers about 12 hectares, 5 of which are planted with vines, on terraced land typical of Ligurian agriculture, as demanding of assiduous care as it is rich in those Mediterranean aromas that characterise its products of excellence.
The production is oriented in particular on the traditional grape varieties of the area such as Vermentino, Bianchetta and Ciliegiolo, to which is added a small amount of Moscato white wine, subject of well-known historical and oenological curiosity. In particularly significant years, the production reaches its peaks of excellence with Missanto Bianco and Missanto Rosso, vinified in small oak barrels.
For each wine, the care and search for quality is continuous, both in the vineyard with a strict selection of the best grapes, as well as in the cellar in the production choices according to the most modern enological methods.
The result is elegant wines, savory, captivating in their different harmony of aromas and scents.
